The National Democratic Congress () has announced the indefinite postponement of parliamentary primaries in the constituency due to a court injunction obtained by a disqualified candidate.

The party's General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, issued a statement on January 17, 2024, revealing the temporary suspension of all activities related to the primaries in the constituency.

The disqualified candidate contested the decision preventing his participation in the primary, resulting in the court granting an interlocutory injunction restraining the from conducting the election until the matter is resolved.

During a meeting on January 16, 2024, the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the party made the decision to postpone the election indefinitely. The NDC has urged branch and constituency executives to maintain peace and harmony during this period.

The party has apologized for any inconvenience caused by the postponement and assured members that a new date for the primaries will be communicated when fixed.

Background:

In November 2023, the Functional Executive Committee of the NDC disqualified Michael Nii Yarboi Annan from contesting in the parliamentary election in the Odododiodioo Constituency.

The party cited findings from a special committee, which justified the disqualification based on Article 41(8)(b) of the NDC Constitution, requiring a member to be an active party member at the constituency level for the four years preceding the nomination date.
