Accra Circuit Court remands two suspects for alleged robbery in Teshie

Two individuals accused of stealing four mobile phones and a cash sum of GH₵6,000.00 in Teshie have been remanded into Police custody by an . The accused persons, identified as Adjei Raymond, a 23-year-old fisherman, and Nicholas Armah Ashitey, a 29-year-old driver's mate, face charges of conspiracy to commit crime, causing harm, and robbery.

During their appearance before the Court presided over by Mr. Isaac Addo, both accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them. They have been remanded into Police custody and are scheduled to reappear on March 11, 2024. Meanwhile, their accomplices remain at large.

According to Police Chief Inspector Josephine Lamptey, prosecuting the case, the incident occurred on February 13, 2024, at approximately 0200 hours. Daniel Tetteh, a member of the Teshie night watchdog Committee, encountered the accused persons and other complainants engaged in a heated argument regarding a stolen phone.

After the dispute was apparently resolved and both parties dispersed, Adjei, accompanied by his accomplices who are currently at large, allegedly returned to the scene. They proceeded to the residences of Margaret Boadu, Goodness Danjuma, Sophia Fremah, and Confidence Awoke, where they reportedly assaulted them.

The prosecution stated that the accused persons physically attacked Tetteh as well. Additionally, they allegedly entered the rooms of Boadu, Fremah, and Awoke, stealing their four mobile phones and a cash amounting to GH₵6,000.00.

Following the assault and theft, the victims reported the incident to the Police, who subsequently issued them with medical forms for treatment of their injuries. Adjei and Ashitey were later apprehended, and during the investigation, the four stolen mobile phones were recovered. The Police indicated that efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining accomplices involved in the crime.
