Deputy Defence Minister Ernest Brogya Genfi has broken ground for three major redevelopment projects for the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) at Burma Camp in Accra.
The projects follow a successful fundraising campaign held on 25 April 2026 and form part of an initiative by the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, to replace ageing infrastructure with modern, sustainable housing and office facilities for military personnel and their families.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Brogya Genfi welcomed the transformation of decades-old structures into modern facilities, describing the redevelopment as an important investment in the future of the Armed Forces. He noted that Burma Camp, as the strategic headquarters of the military, deserved a modern facelift.
He also paid tribute to the Chief of the Defence Staff, the Military High Command and Corporate Ghana for supporting the initiative.
The redevelopment includes the construction of a multi-purpose office complex at the Post Office site, new one- and two-bedroom apartments at El Wak Barracks, and the redevelopment of the Medo Lines at Burma Camp, where housing capacity will increase from 32 to about 180 military families. The projects are expected to provide safer, more modern accommodation and improve working conditions for personnel.
