Ghana Police have arrested in connection with the tragic shooting incident that claimed the life of a soldier in Kasoa. The Ghana Police Service confirmed that a suspect, identified as Benlord Ababio, has been apprehended following preliminary investigations into the incident.
The shooting occurred at Millennium City in Kasoa, located in the Central Region of Ghana, on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, around 4:20 pm. According to initial reports, the victim, a soldier, sustained fatal gunshot wounds during the altercation. He was quickly transported to the Mother and Child Hospital in Kasoa for urgent medical attention, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Benlord Ababio, the alleged perpetrator, is currently in police custody, cooperating with authorities as they continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
In response to the incident, the leadership of the Ghana Police Service has been in communication with the Ghana Armed Forces, demonstrating a collaborative effort in seeking justice for the fallen soldier and his family.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi, who serves as the Director of Public Affairs, issued a statement confirming the arrest and ongoing investigation.
