The winner of this year's novelty University Challenge, organized by the New Africa Foundation, will be awarded a GHc 1 million entrepreneurial prize. The Challenge, featuring ten universities and teams, is set to span 10 to 13 weeks, with the goal of recruiting innovative minds and fostering solutions to real-life community challenges.
The New Africa Foundation aims to shift the paradigm of education by encouraging students to think beyond traditional job-seeking and focus on entrepreneurship, leadership, and wealth creation. The University Challenge intends to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical problem-solving, encouraging students to apply their theoretical knowledge to address real-world issues.
Participating universities in the Challenge include the University of Development Studies, University of Professional Studies, University of Ghana–Legon, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and University of Cape Coast. Other institutions involved are Central University College, the University of Health and Allied Sciences, All Nations University, the University of Mines and Technology, and the University of Energy and Resources.
The Foundation envisions the Challenge as a transformative initiative that cultivates entrepreneurial skills and leadership qualities among students, contributing to their personal and professional development. The GHc 1 million entrepreneurial prize serves as a powerful incentive to encourage participants in their journey towards developing impactful solutions for real-world challenges.
