The Acting Director of the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park (KNMP), Mr Edward Quao, has expressed satisfaction at the level of patronage on the first day of the park's reopening to the public.

He stated, “So far so good. Lots of people have come in since morning, both foreigners and locals, and we are expecting more before the close of the day. We are hopeful that it will generate a lot of revenue in the coming weeks.”

The redeveloped KNMP, which was commissioned by President on July 4, 2023, temporarily closed on July 8 to prepare for commercial operations and reopened to the public on July 11.

Mr Quao spoke with the Ghana Agency and expressed optimism about the park's revenue generation for the development of the sector and the country as a whole.

He announced that the park would open from 8:30 am to 11:00 pm daily, with provisional ticket prices varying for non-Ghanaians and Ghanaians.

Additionally, Mr Quao shared information about organizing events at the park, stating that evening events for 100 people would cost between GH¢ 3,000.00 and GH¢ 5,000.00, while daytime events would range from GH¢ 2,000.00 to GH¢ 3,000.00.

Mr Quao commended the government, specifically the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, for their support in revitalizing the park and attracting visitors and revenue for the country.

Visitors interviewed by the GNA expressed excitement about the park's facelift and praised the government for the initiative, stating that the improved park provided a better learning and experiential experience.
