The Volta Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the passing of Ambassador Modestus Yao Zebu Ahiable, a distinguished member of the Volta Regional Council of Elders and the first Member of Parliament for Ketu North Constituency from 1993 to 2005.
In a statement signed by Mr. James Gunu, the Regional Secretary, it was revealed that Ambassador Ahiable passed away in the early hours of Sunday, January 21, 2024, after a brief illness.
The statement acknowledged his significant contributions, stating that he served as the Volta Regional Minister from 1993 to 1997 and played a crucial role as the Regional Chairman, contributing to the NDC's victory in the 2008 elections.
The statement described Ambassador Ahiable as a “deep thinker and a political strategist full of wisdom.” It also announced that he had served as Ghana's Ambassador to the Republic of Benin from 2009 to 2013.
The Party leadership, in collaboration with the Ketu North constituency and the family, will provide updates on the final funeral arrangements.
The statement concluded by requesting all constituency offices to fly Party flags at half-mast in honor of the late Ambassador Ahiable.
