A third accused person has appeared in court in connection with the alleged murder of a 35-year-old businesswoman, Princess Afia Ahenkan, at Sokoban in the Ashanti Region.
The accused, 23-year-old Collins Atuo, appeared at the Asokore Mampong District Court on Tuesday after his arrest over the weekend.
The two existing accused persons, including the deceased's house help, Alister John, are already on trial for the brutal murder that occurred on September 11, 2023, at the victim's residence in Apaaso near Sokoban.
John, the house help, was arrested on September 14, 2023, just days after the alleged crime.
James Anokye, the second accused, had previously been denied bail, citing concerns about his safety and awaiting advice from the Attorney General's office.
The deceased's relatives expressed satisfaction with the case's progress, with one relative stating, “We are happy that finally, they have arrested the three of them.
We are waiting for the next step. The police CID have done their job. They have done well.”
The case has been adjourned to February 6, 2024.
