President Nana Akufo-Addo has candidly admitted that the lack of development in Ekumfi was a result of overlooking the constituency after they voted out Francis Ato Cudjoe in the 2020 elections.
The President conveyed this during a meeting with traditional leaders from Ekumfi at the Jubilee House.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the voting pattern in Ekumfi, President Akufo-Addo highlighted the consequences of voting out Ato Cudjoe from Ghana's Parliament, despite having appointed him as a Deputy Minister.
He acknowledged, “Ato Cudjoe was your MP, and I made him a Deputy Minister, and you voted him out in the last elections, and because of that, I did not pay attention to development in your area.
I have to be honest with you, but since you have brought it up, I will pay attention to it.”
The traditional leaders visited the Jubilee House to appeal to the President for increased development initiatives to improve the living standards of the people in Ekumfi.
Despite the disappointment in the voting outcome, President Akufo-Addo assured them that he would make efforts to address the development needs of the area.
In the 2020 parliamentary elections, Francis Ato Cudjoe, who had previously served as a Member of Parliament, was defeated by Abeiku Crentsil, despite Ato Cudjoe having been appointed as a Deputy Minister.
