
Hon. Charles Asuako Owiredu is the Member of Parliament for Abirem, representing the constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Born on Saturday, 7th June 1975, he hails from Akyem Afosu and is a Christian. He is currently serving his first term in Parliament.
He holds an LL.M from the University of Sunderland, an LL.B from the University of London, and an Executive Master’s degree from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre. He also holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Cape Coast, a Teachers’ Certificate A from Komenda Training College, and began his academic journey at Ghana National College.

Hon. Owiredu brings deep diplomatic and political experience to Parliament. He previously served as Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Director of International Affairs for the New Patriotic Party. Before entering politics, he taught under the Ghana Education Service.
In Parliament, he serves as Deputy Ranking Member on the Information and Communications Committee, and is a member of both the Security and Intelligence and the Standing Orders Committees.
