Bekwai MP criticizes 24-Hour Economy Authority, calls it a waste of resources

The Bekwai Member of Parliament, Ralph Poku-Adusei, has raised concerns over the operations of the 24-Hour Economy Authority, describing it as an inefficient use of public funds.

According to Hon.Poku-Adusei, the authority has failed to deliver measurable benefits despite significant government investment.

In a recent statement, MP Ralph Poku-Adusei highlighted that the Authority’s initiatives have not translated into tangible economic growth or improved business operations, questioning the rationale behind maintaining its operations.

He further argued that the resources allocated to the Authority could be better deployed to support more impactful projects, particularly those that directly address employment, infrastructure, and small business development.

The MP called for a review of the Authority’s mandate and recommended a more transparent assessment of its performance to ensure public funds are used efficiently.

This critique adds to growing debates about the effectiveness of government agencies established to promote specific economic policies.

Officials from the 24-Hour Economy Authority are yet to respond to the criticisms, but stakeholders are watching closely to see if the government will take steps to justify the continued operation of the institution or restructure it for greater accountability and impact.
