Enoch Tettey Martey, Deputy Information Systems Manager at the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), has submitted a letter requesting funds to purchase fifteen (15) iPad keyboards for Board Members, with each keyboard costing a staggering Four Thousand Five Hundred Cedis (GH¢4,500.00).
In the letter addressed to the Director of Finance dated February 26, 2024, Martey emphasized the need for the keyboards to enhance productivity and ensure the comfort of Board Members during meetings.
Attached to the letter is a pro forma invoice for the purchase of the keyboards, indicating the significant expense involved.
In the face of COCOBOD'd worst year in terms of financial performance with its inability to cash in on the sky-high world cocoa prices, this requisition has disappointed many.
As expected, this request has sparked outrage online with one user Adbee posting “And the government says there is no money to pay rent allowance to teachers….”
Another user CurrencyForte reacted “No one going to face the law. It's a free for all lootocracy of the national wallet. The justice system is broken”
This other user posted that even the most expensive of these Apple iPad Pro keyboards were barely $349, a far cry from $4,500
