Dr Onsy Nathan Kwame Nkrumah, former Vice Chairman of the Convention People's Party (CPP), has officially submitted his nomination form to run as the flagbearer of the party. This move comes as the CPP prepares to challenge the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for power.
Speaking to journalists, Dr Onsy Nkrumah expressed that he had received encouragement from both the diaspora and Ghanaian citizens to lead the country, following in the footsteps of his father, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, and bringing about positive change for Ghana.
He emphasized his motivation to see the CPP restored to power, reorganized, and dedicated to serving the people of Ghana once again.
“CPP has once led the country and is ready to work with any individual to make this country a better one,” Dr Onsy Nkrumah stated, highlighting the party's commitment to national progress.
He also emphasized his extensive advocacy for Pan-Africanism, both locally and globally, which he believes positions him as the ideal candidate to lead the CPP and Ghana.
Dr Onsy Nkrumah stressed that CPP's independence is crucial in bringing about the desired change and called on Ghanaians in the diaspora to return home and support his candidacy.
He voiced the sentiment that Ghanaians have experienced disappointment under the governance of both the NPP and the NDC from 1992 to 2023, and they deserve better governance for accelerated development.
In the CPP flagbearer race, Dr Onsy Nkrumah is competing with Nana Akosua Frimpongmaa Sarpong Kumankumah, as both candidates have strong chances of securing the party's nomination. The CPP has reported a peaceful process in terms of the picking and submission of nomination forms.
