The Ghana Police Service has taken swift action in response to electoral-related offences during the internal parliamentary elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Yendi. One suspect has been arrested, while a manhunt is underway for others involved in damaging electoral materials during the sorting of ballots.
The disruptive act, which involved damaging tables and chairs, led to the interruption of the counting process, creating uncertainty about the outcome of the poll in the constituency.
In a joint effort with the military, the Ghana Police Service released a statement indicating their commitment to restoring law, order, and security in the area. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the disturbances.
The statement reassured the public that all individuals responsible for the disruptive act would be arrested and prosecuted according to the law. The authorities remain focused on ensuring a fair and lawful electoral process in line with established protocols.
