In the lead-up to the 2024 elections, Independent Presidential candidate Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has taken aim at Ghana's two major political parties, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), criticizing their inability to address the nation's economic challenges effectively.
Kyerematen asserts that both the NDC and NPP have failed to provide substantial solutions to alleviate the economic burdens faced by Ghanaians. He specifically calls out the parties for resorting to International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailouts during their respective administrations, highlighting the need for a departure from the status quo.
Positioning himself as the leader of the Movement for Change, Kyerematen urges voters to consider him as the most suitable candidate to lead the desired transformation that Ghanaians yearn for. He emphasizes the necessity of trying something different after decades of governance by the two dominant parties.
Drawing on his experience as the longest-serving Trade Minister and citing his achievements in initiatives like the One-District-One-Factory (1D1F), Kyerematen highlights his effectiveness in driving change and innovation. He believes that his track record under both former President John Agyekum Kufuor and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's administrations positions him as a credible alternative to the traditional political establishment.
Moreover, Kyerematen expresses confidence in his popularity in key regions like Volta and Central, traditionally strongholds of the NDC. He asserts that he will amass more votes in these regions than his contenders, NPP flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, citing massive support and a network of volunteers across the country.
As the 2024 elections approach, Kyerematen's message of change and his vision for transformation resonate with many Ghanaians seeking alternatives to the familiar political landscape dominated by the NPP and NDC.
