West Ham star Mohammed Kudus is undergoing a late fitness test before the Black Stars' encounter with Egypt, according to Ghana coach Chris Hughton.
Kudus, who joined the national team after recovering from an injury sustained in a West Ham game, has participated in light training drills.
GNA Sports observed Kudus moving comfortably during the team's training session at the TS-Stade Municipal de Bingerville.
However, Coach Hughton emphasized that a final decision on Kudus' participation would be made after the late fitness assessment.
“As most are aware, Mohammed Kudus joined camp later because he suffered an injury in his late game for West Ham.
We will continue to assess him. He has trained the last few days, but we would assess him and make a decision before the match,” Hughton stated.
While Kudus may make the matchday squad, the expectation is that he might not start the game but could potentially make a cameo appearance later on.
The Black Stars are set to face Egypt in their second Group B encounter at the Stade Félix-Houphouët-Boigny on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 20:00 GMT.
