Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire – Ghanaian forward, Mohammed Kudus, expressed mixed feelings after Ghana's 2-2 draw against Egypt in a thrilling Group C encounter at the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d'Ivoire 2023 in Abidjan.
“I'm happy to be back. I worked so hard to get back to the top and help my team, my nation. I need to be here,” shared Kudus, reflecting on his journey and coming back to the national team.
Despite Kudus contributing with a double in the dramatic draw, Ghana only secured a single point from the match. The West Ham striker couldn't hide his frustration, emphasizing the desire for his goals to have a more significant impact on the final result.
“It's a mixed feeling. As a forward, you want your goals to have an impact on the result. We made careless mistakes. Now we'll have to get back to work, win the next one and then see what happens,” stated Kudus, acknowledging the team's need for improvement and a focus on the upcoming matches.
In his concluding remarks, Kudus expressed optimism about Ghana's chances in the tournament, highlighting that despite the draw, the objective remains the same – to bring the trophy home.
“We are not out. The objective remains the same, which is to take the trophy home,” affirmed Kudus, underlining the determination and ambition of the Ghanaian team in the TotalEnergies AFCON 2023 campaign.
