The Minority in has raised objections, stating that the recent sod-cutting ceremony initiated by President Nana Addo Dankwa to mark the commencement of the National Affordable Housing Project is unlawful.

The President's act, which took place on Tuesday, signalled the launch of a project aimed at constructing approximately 8,000 units of affordable housing through collaboration with the private sector.

Sampson Ahi, a member of the Committee of , expressed concerns regarding the lack of transparency in the project's approval process.

He highlighted that the government had not provided the details of the agreement to Parliament for necessary endorsement, emphasizing, “This particular project is supposed to be laid in Parliament today, but it has not been done which means that the EPC agreement has not been approved in Parliament and so if you have presented such a document to Parliament for approval, it has not even been laid, yet we are there cutting sod to commence work and that is a slap or disrespect to government structures.”

Mr Ahi further stressed the need for clarification on various aspects of the project, including the land's value and the cost of on-site infrastructure, which the government is expected to contribute as part of its equity in the initiative.
