Governs Agbodza, the Minority Chief Whip, has issued a response to Dr Ernest Addison, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), regarding the latter's refusal to resign despite calls from opposition parties.
Dr Addison stated in an interview with international business news website Central Banking that he has no intention of stepping down and described the National Democratic Congress (NDC) protest as “completely unnecessary.”
He also criticized the NDC's use of street demonstrations as a means of expressing grievances.
In response, Agbodza, the MP for the Adaklu constituency, suggested that Dr Addison was being protected from accountability.
He warned that the BoG Governor would eventually face legal consequences, stating, “He's a protected arrogant thief. His day to face justice will surely come.”
The Minority held a protest demanding the resignation of Dr Addison and his deputies due to losses incurred by the BoG and ongoing issues with the bank's head office complex.
The protesters refused to hand over their petition to the head of security at the BoG and vowed to continue protesting until Dr Addison and his deputies step down.
