Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Ekow Vincent Assafuah, has announced plans to take legal action against what he describes as politically motivated dismissals of young employees recruited under the previous government.
In a statement issued on February 11, 2025, Assafuah criticized the Mahama administration for failing to fulfil its promise of a 24-hour economy while allegedly engaging in politically driven terminations. He argued that the affected individuals were legally recruited under a properly constituted government and should not be dismissed without just cause.

“This is nothing but political victimization, and I refuse to stand by and watch it happen. We are taking this battle to court to ensure that this already failing government does not have unchecked power to unjustly terminate hardworking young employees,” he stated.
The MP further asserted that the Constitution of Ghana protects public sector employees from arbitrary dismissals, emphasizing that any termination must follow due process and adhere to fair hearing principles. He described the dismissals as unconstitutional, dehumanizing, and a violation of fundamental rights.
Assafuah assured affected individuals that a future New Patriotic Party (NPP) government would reinstate them, calling on victims of the dismissals to reach out for legal support.
“If you are a victim of this politically motivated dismissal, I urge you to reach out immediately. We will fight this injustice together,” he added.
He provided his contact details, urging affected persons to take action.
