The government has ordered the cancellation of all public sector appointments and recruitments made after December 7, 2024, citing non-compliance with good governance practices.
In a directive issued from the Office of the President and signed by Chief of Staff Hon. Julius Debrah, all heads of government institutions have been instructed to annul such appointments and submit a comprehensive report on actions taken by February 17, 2025.
The move aligns with the government’s stance against last-minute appointments at the end of an administration’s tenure.
“All appointments and recruitments made in the Public Services of Ghana after December 7, 2024, do not comply with established governance principles. Therefore, necessary steps must be taken to annul them,” the directive stated.
This decision is expected to affect several appointments made in the final days of the previous administration.
