Abdul Aziz Haruna Futa has been re-elected as the Nasara Coordinator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following the party’s national delegates conference held at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The conference took place on July 16 and 17, 2022, with delegates electing national executives to lead the party.

Mr Futa secured 328 votes to retain his position, defeating six other contenders, including Abdul-Muazu Kunata, Haruna Maiga, Abdul Rahman Diallo, Awal Mohammed and Sulemana Alhassan Atakpo.
Abdul-Muazu Kunata placed second with 199 votes, while Awal Mohammed received 24 votes. Sulemana Alhassan Atakpo, Haruna Maiga and Abdul Rahman Diallo obtained nine, five and two votes respectively.
Following his victory, Mr Futa is expected to continue leading the party’s outreach and mobilisation efforts within Muslim communities across the country.
The Nasara wing serves as the Zongo outreach arm of the NPP and was established by the late Alhaji Hussein Maiga, together with Alhaji Muhammed Salisu Kentebako and other Muslim leaders, including Hajia Meimuna Yakubu (Hajia Fara), Alhaji Rufai, Alhaji Bismi and Alhaji Sadat.
