Deputy Attorney General, Justice Sai has stated that the NDC government has significantly advanced civil and political rights within its 16 months in office.
He said citizens are now able to demonstrate and protest freely, including in front of the Flagstaff House, which he described as a restricted area under previous administrations where protests were often met with armed brutality.

He also stated that accused persons are increasingly being presented before the court within the constitutional 48-hour period, while state prosecutors are focusing more on bail conditions rather than opposing bail applications.
According to him, access to legal counsel for suspects has improved, with law enforcement agencies now scheduling interrogations in advance in appropriate cases to reduce delays for lawyers.
Justice Sai also outlined court proceedings scheduled under Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) for the week of 11 to 15 May 2026.
The cases include Republic v Asamoah & Another in the Skytrain case, Republic v Akonta Mining & 3 Others in the Nimiri Forest Reserve illegal mining case, and Republic v Kwabena Adu Boahene & 2 Others in the cybersecurity software scandal.
Also before the courts is Republic v Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, & 2 Others in the Samreboi illegal mining case.
Proceedings scheduled for the week include cross-examinations of prosecution witnesses and a case management conference for the defence.
