Kwabena Duffour submits nomination form to run for NDC flagbearership

Former Finance Minister, Dr Kwabena Duffour, has submitted his nomination form to contest the upcoming National Democratic Congress () flagbearership race in a bid to take over the reins of power from the governing New Patriotic Party ().

Accompanied by supporters, Dr Duffour presented the forms to the party's headquarters in .

In his submission, Dr Duffour emphasized the need to strengthen the party's grassroots for a successful election, stating that “the grassroots, the foundation of our party should be resourced, should be made stronger than it is now so that they can fight the elephant to go into the bush.”

The 's General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey, and some party executives received the forms from Dr Duffour amidst cheers from his supporters.

The NDC is set to close nominations for both presidential and parliamentary contests on the same day.

The party's Elections Committee Chairman, Kakra Essamuah, revealed that vetting for the flagbearer aspirants would commence on March 28 to 29, while the vetting of parliamentary counterparts would take place over the next two weeks.

The election to find a flagbearer is scheduled for May 13, 2023.
