Professor David Essumang, Vice Chancellor of Koforidua Technical University (KTU), has emphasized the importance of collaborating with the media to help the university achieve global recognition as a leading educational institution.
Speaking at a media gathering in the Eastern Region, Professor Essumang acknowledged the media's influential role in shaping public opinion and highlighted the significance of leveraging this collaboration to effectively communicate the university's academic achievements, research breakthroughs, and contributions to society.
The event, which served as a platform for showcasing KTU's academic excellence, research discoveries, and impactful initiatives, is part of the university's efforts to establish itself as a global leader in higher education.
Professor Essumang stressed that achieving the university's vision of becoming a world-class higher learning institution would require the cooperation of various stakeholders, with the media playing a pivotal role in this endeavor.
He urged all members of the KTU community to continue their hard work, discipline, perseverance, and dedication, while prioritizing the mobilization of human, material, and financial resources to support the institution's growth.
Koforidua Technical University initially began as a polytechnic offering two programs – the Higher National Diploma (HND) in Marketing and Purchasing and Supply, with an enrollment of 47 students.
However, following its conversion into a fully-fledged university, KTU now offers 25 Bachelor of Technology (B'Tech) programs, with a significantly expanded student population of approximately 8,719.
The degree programs encompass a wide range of fields, including Automotive Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Welding and Fabrication Engineering, Renewable Energy Systems Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Actuarial Science, Graphic Design Technology, Fashion Design and Textiles, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Environmental Management, and Technology.
KTU has made substantial progress in enhancing its staff profile and improving its academic and administrative systems.
Professor Essumang expressed his appreciation for the contributions of all stakeholders who have played a role in KTU's journey and development.
