IoD-Ghana partners with European Open Education Network to boost corporate governance

The Institute of Directors-Ghana (IoD-Ghana) has embarked on a collaborative venture with the European Open Education Network (EOE) based in . The aim is to elevate directorship practices in Ghana and promote corporate governance advancement.

The partnership between IoD-Ghana and EOE covers various critical areas, including joint program development and delivery, capacity building for leadership and staff, educational exchanges and study tours, training, qualification, and consulting services. Additionally, it offers access to European-accredited bachelor's, master's, and doctoral studies.

Reverend Mrs. Angela Carmen Appiah, President/Chair of the Governing Council at IoD-Ghana, commended the initiative during a collaborative meeting with stakeholders. She expressed optimism that the collaboration would significantly contribute to nurturing exemplary leaders in corporate governance.

Rev. Mrs. Appiah highlighted the importance of international collaborations, emphasizing the need to leverage global best practices and expand the organization's horizons. She emphasized IoD-Ghana's commitment to core principles of corporate governance, encapsulated in the acronym ATTIRE (Accountability, Transparency, Truthfulness, Integrity, Responsibility, and Effectiveness/Efficiency).

Prof. Dr. Dr. Christian Werner, President of the European Open Education Network, , conveyed his organization's enthusiasm for partnering with IoD-Ghana. He praised IoD-Ghana's dedication to professional corporate directorship and expressed confidence that the collaboration would enhance the impact of their programs.

Prof. Werner, representing multiple prestigious educational institutions, is currently on a working visit to Ghana until May 10, 2024. As part of his itinerary, he will conduct a seminar and deliver a paper titled “Good Corporate Governance and Ethical Leadership: European Perspectives.”

During the meeting, Rev. Mrs. Appiah presented IoD-Ghana's publications, including the ‘Director's Handbook 3rd Edition' and ‘The National Corporate Governance Code,' to Prof. Werner, symbolizing the commitment to shared goals in advancing corporate governance standards in Ghana.
