Peace in West Africa impossible without fixing development gaps – Gyakye Quayson

Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable James Gyakye Quayson, has stated that sustainable peace in West Africa cannot be achieved without addressing underlying development challenges.

Quayson emphasised that insecurity in the sub-region is closely linked to development deficits, calling for coordinated regional responses, stronger institutions, and expanded economic opportunities.

He noted that peace efforts must combine security measures with inclusive growth, good governance, and youth empowerment.

On the sidelines of the forum, the Deputy Minister also held bilateral meetings and highlighted Ghana’s foreign policy priorities, including regional stability, economic diplomacy, and international cooperation.
