The Government of Ghana has received a donation of 2,000 metric tons of fertiliser from the Kingdom of Morocco in a ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on April 15, 2026.
Receiving the consignment, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, described the gesture as generous and timely, noting that it reflects the strong bilateral relations between the two countries. He said the support aligns with Ghana’s strategic objective of achieving food security and revealed that Morocco has also shown readiness to support Ghana in local fertiliser production.

The Minister further highlighted expanding cooperation between the two countries in areas such as visa facilitation and sports development, aimed at enhancing people-to-people exchanges.
Morocco’s Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Imane Ouaadil, stated that the donation represents the second consignment of fertiliser support to Ghana, underscoring the depth of the longstanding partnership. She noted that the support would help boost agricultural productivity, strengthen the resilience of Ghana’s farming sector, and mitigate the effects of global challenges, including climate change, supply chain disruptions, and rising fertiliser costs.
She also acknowledged the role of Office Chérifien des Phosphates (OCP) Africa in coordinating farmer support and capacity-building initiatives.
Chief Director Ambassador Khadijah Iddrisu described the donation as a practical outcome of sustained diplomatic engagement, adding that it would contribute significantly to national efforts to enhance agricultural productivity and strengthen food security. She expressed appreciation to the Government of Morocco for its continued partnership.
