King Mohammed VI of Morocco has commended officers, non-commissioned officers and privates of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) for their dedication and sacrifices as the country marked the 66th anniversary of the military institution.
The King, who is the Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the FAR, praised the armed forces for their role in protecting Morocco’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security.

In a statement, King Mohammed VI expressed appreciation to all branches of the military, including the land, air and naval forces, as well as the Royal Gendarmerie, for their commitment and service to the Kingdom.
He said the anniversary represented the values of unity, sacrifice and resilience that continue to guide the Royal Armed Forces in defending the country against threats.
The Moroccan leader also acknowledged the efforts of soldiers stationed at the southern and eastern borders, commending them for their vigilance in safeguarding the nation and protecting citizens.
King Mohammed VI highlighted the importance of strengthening the military through improved training, modernization and better resources to enable the armed forces to respond effectively to emerging security challenges.
He announced the creation of a supreme military commission to examine the establishment of a new legal and organizational framework for non-commissioned officers, including their career development and management.
The King also announced that families of soldiers who lost their lives defending the country and wards of the nation would receive free housing support to improve their living conditions.
He emphasized the need to continue upgrading military equipment, developing defence industries and promoting scientific research through partnerships with universities and research institutions.
King Mohammed VI further announced plans to establish a Moroccan Peacekeeping Centre to train national and foreign personnel, particularly from Africa, in collaboration with the United Nations and other partner countries.
He also praised the efforts of the Royal Gendarmerie, National Police, Civil Protection and other security agencies for their continued work in maintaining peace and protecting citizens.
The King urged members of the Royal Armed Forces to remain committed to the values of loyalty, unity and service as they continue to defend the interests of Morocco.
