Iranian state television has indicated that the country’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, was seriously injured following an Israeli strike amid the escalating conflict in the Middle East.
According to Iranian media reports, the cleric was described as a “janbaz,” a Persian term commonly used to refer to someone wounded in enemy action.

The wording was interpreted by observers as confirmation that Khamenei sustained injuries during ongoing hostilities involving Iran and Israel.
The development comes shortly after Khamenei was named Iran’s new Supreme Leader following the death of his father, Ali Khamenei, who was reportedly killed in earlier U.S.-Israeli strikes on Tehran during the current conflict.
Iranian authorities have not provided detailed information about where or when the latest strike occurred, nor have they clarified the severity of Mojtaba Khamenei’s injuries. However, reports suggest the injury occurred during what Iranian officials describe as the “Ramadan war,” referring to the ongoing confrontation involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.
The conflict has significantly intensified across the region in recent weeks, with both sides exchanging missile and drone attacks. Regional governments have also reported civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure as tensions continue to escalate.
Analysts say the reported injury to Iran’s new leader could further heighten tensions in the region and deepen uncertainty about Iran’s leadership during a critical moment in the conflict.
Despite the reports, Iranian officials have not announced any change in leadership, and the government has maintained that its political and military structures remain firmly in control.
