Heart of Lions FC, a Ghana Premier League team, has officially announced the appointment of Bashir Hayford as the club's new head coach.
Hayford replaces Fatawu Salifu, who was recently dismissed due to the team's poor performance in the ongoing league.
In a bid to turn their fortunes around, the highly experienced gaffer, Bashir Hayford, is expected to lead the Kpando-based club and help them avoid relegation. Heart of Lions has yet to secure a win in the current league season.
This marks Bashir Hayford's second stint with the club, as he had previously coached the team during the 2006/2007 season. The 65-year-old coach brings a wealth of experience to the position, having managed other Ghanaian clubs such as Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold SC, as well as the Somalia national team.
Hayford's most recent coaching role in the Ghana Premier League was with Legon Cities FC from November 2020 to August 2021.
His first challenge in his new role will be guiding Heart of Lions in their match against Legon Cities in match week 16 at the Sogakope Park.
