Anloga, Ghana -Tension is mounting in the Anloga District of the Volta Region as teachers and parents have called for the immediate dismissal of the Anloga District Director of Education over what they describe as poor leadership and administrative failures.
At a press briefing held earlier this week, representatives of teacher groups and Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) accused the district director of mismanaging educational affairs and failing to address persistent challenges affecting schools in the area.

They cited concerns including delays in the release of teaching and learning materials, inadequate supervision of schools, and what they described as a lack of transparency in administrative decisions.
Some teachers, who spoke on condition of anonymity, claimed that repeated petitions to higher authorities yielded little response, prompting them to escalate their concerns publicly.
According to them, morale among staff has declined, with some schools struggling to meet academic targets due to what they described as weak coordination at the district level.
Parents also expressed frustration over what they say is a decline in academic performance in some public basic schools within the district. They argue that leadership at the district education office must be strengthened to restore confidence and improve outcomes for students.
“We want accountability and effective leadership. Our children’s education cannot suffer because of administrative lapses,” one PTA executive member stated during the engagement.
In response to the allegations, officials at the district education office have yet to issue a detailed public statement. However, sources within the Ghana Education Service indicate that the matter has been brought to the attention of regional authorities for review.
The situation has sparked discussions among education stakeholders in the district, with some calling for an independent investigation to assess the claims and determine the way forward.
Observers say the outcome of the matter will be closely watched, as it reflects broader concerns about governance and accountability within local education administration structures.
For now, teachers and parents insist they will continue to press their demands until what they describe as meaningful action is taken to address their concerns.
