The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has held a meeting with leaders of the Ashanti Regional Students’ Representative Council (SRC) at the Regional Coordinating Council to discuss initiatives aimed at strengthening student leadership and youth development across the region.
During the engagement, the SRC executives presented a comprehensive proposal to establish a structured leadership class designed to mentor and prepare emerging student leaders in senior high schools across Ashanti.

Dr. Amoakohene described the proposal as thoughtful and forward-looking, noting that it reflects a strong commitment to discipline, service, and purposeful leadership among the youth.
The meeting also reviewed a number of notable achievements by the Regional SRC, including the successful organization of the Ashanti SHS Music Fiesta, football competitions, Interco and Superzonal sporting events, as well as participation in the National Science and Maths Quiz.
According to the Regional Minister, these activities continue to provide valuable platforms for promoting talent, teamwork, and academic excellence among students.
Concerns regarding occasional clashes between schools during inter-school events were also discussed. Dr. Amoakohene emphasized the importance of unity, sportsmanship, and mutual respect, stressing that competition among schools must remain healthy, safe, and constructive.
Commending the SRC leadership for their maturity and innovative thinking, Dr. Amoakohene reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that empower students and strengthen education, leadership, and youth development nationwide.
He expressed confidence that sustained collaboration between government and student leaders will help build a disciplined, confident, and responsible generation capable of leading both the region and the nation into the future.
