The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects for allegedly disrupting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Executive Election at Bidieso in Obuasi.
The suspects, Haruna Iddrisu alias Dole, Osei Boateng alias Nana Osei, and Charles Opoku alias Blackman, allegedly stormed the polling station on July 12, 2026, armed with offensive weapons, scattered ballot boxes, and threatened election officials and voters.

Police said a reinforcement team intervened and arrested the suspects, retrieving one axe and one cutlass during the operation.
The suspects were later arraigned before the Bekwai Circuit Court on charges of conspiracy to commit crime, namely rioting with weapons, and rioting with weapons. They pleaded not guilty and were each granted bail of GH¢50,000 with two justified sureties.
The case has been adjourned to August 10, 2026, while investigations continue. Police said efforts are underway to arrest other persons suspected of being involved in the incident.
