The initiative, launched under the tagline “Safely, Confidently with Skill,” is part of Vivo Energy Ghana’s corporate social responsibility and an extension of its flagship ShePower diversity and inclusion campaign, which aims to empower women across all spheres of life.
Mr Christian Li, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Ghana, said the company’s vision of becoming Africa‘s leading and most respected energy business is anchored on safety, excellence, caring, respect, and integrity. “Safety is an integral part of our operations, not only in how we run our business but also in how we support communities we serve, hence She’llFix to equip women with essential car safety skills,” he explained.
Madam Esther Ambah Numaba Cobbah, President of the Institute of Public Relations, Ghana, encouraged women to gain self-confidence in handling basic vehicle issues to reduce over-reliance on men. “There is nothing that women cannot fix… Gather the courage to manage your vehicle. Women are capable, perhaps more capable because we are careful,” she said, applauding Vivo Energy Ghana for equipping women with practical skills.
She further stressed that initiatives like She’llFix contribute to recognising women’s equality in the workplace and society, dismantling outdated ideas and discriminatory practices, and highlighting women’s capabilities even in technical fields.
Madam Shirley Tony Kum, Corporate Communications Manager at Vivo Energy Ghana, noted that female drivers often panic when their vehicles break down, unsure whether to call a mechanic or a spouse. She explained that She’llFix seeks to teach women basic car maintenance so they can address minor issues themselves before seeking professional help.
The programme reflects Vivo Energy Ghana’s commitment to fostering skills, confidence, and independence among women while promoting road safety.
