Mamboi (Upper West) – Residents of Mamboi, a community in the Kpaliye Electoral Area in the Wa East District, have appealed to the government to help provide a Kindergarten (KG) block to improve access to pre-primary education.
They have also called on the government to rehabilitate roads linking the community to neighbouring areas, particularly routes used to access markets and essential services such as healthcare.

In an interview with pressmen, Naa Ahmadu Abdulali, Chief of Mamboi, said sections of the area had been cut off by a river, making parts of the community inaccessible, especially during the rainy season.
He said residents were unable to reach market centres, while farmers could not transport farm inputs from the markets to their farms, which was affecting agricultural activities.
“The bad state of the roads is really affecting us. Farmers cannot buy fertiliser and other things from the market. When there is a serious health issue, getting to the health centre is a problem, and for pregnant women to access antenatal services and to deliver at the clinic,” he said.
Naa Abdulali stated that the lack of basic facilities, including a suitable school building, a health facility, and good roads, was affecting livelihoods in the area.
He said the Member of Parliament for the area had not responded to their concerns.
Mr Peter Sortro Mwiniisir, the Assembly Member for the area, told this reporter that although political leaders were aware of the challenges facing the community, little action had been taken.
He said that while commitments were made during election periods to improve roads and provide educational infrastructure, those commitments had not been fulfilled after the elections.
Ms Bosureta Ahmed, a resident, said the situation posed risks to school children and pregnant women during the rainy season, as children were unable to attend school and expectant mothers could not access health facilities.
She appealed to the government and other stakeholders to intervene to improve living conditions in the community.
