Okaikwei North Assembly deploys 24-hour task force to enforce Lapaz decongestion

The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly has deployed a 24-hour task force to intensify decongestion efforts at Lapaz.

The exercise forms part of efforts to remove unauthorised structures, street trading activities and other obstructions affecting movement within the municipality.

According to the Assembly, the task force will operate around the clock to ensure traders and transport operators comply with directives to keep pavements, roadsides and public spaces clear.

Officials said the operation is aimed at improving sanitation, reducing congestion and enhancing safety for motorists and pedestrians.

The Assembly also appealed to residents, traders and commuters to cooperate with authorities to support the long-term success of the exercise.

Lapaz is one of Accra‘s busiest commercial and transport centres and regularly experiences heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
