Dzodze (V/R), Oct. 8, GNA. Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Mr. Eric Edem Agbana, has called on Ghanaians to exercise patience and trust the Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) initiative, describing it as a vital programme aimed at restoring integrity and accountability in governance.
Responding to public reactions following his recent media appearance, Mr. Agbana acknowledged the feedback, including dissenting opinions, but noted that the volume of calls and messages reflected the national interest in ORAL. “Let me reiterate the point I made on the show this morning and state emphatically that the Attorney-General and his team are not slow. Their deliberate, methodical approach is a mark of professionalism, not procrastination,” he said.

The MP explained that ORAL emerged from public outrage over decades of entrenched corruption, impunity, and unchecked plundering of Ghana‘s public resources. He described the initiative as both a policy and a moral crusade, designed not only to reclaim stolen state assets but also to restore integrity in public office and reaffirm that no individual, regardless of rank or political affiliation, is above the law.
Highlighting the ambitious and transformative mission of ORAL, Mr. Agbana said it aims to uncover illicitly acquired wealth, pursue justice through legal and forensic rigour, and redirect recovered assets to fund national development. He added that the overwhelming public approval of ORAL reflects its symbolic power as a long-overdue confrontation with a culture of impunity that historically shielded political elites from accountability. “For many, ORAL is more than a policy; it is a reclamation of Ghana’s moral sovereignty, a bold declaration that integrity can and must triumph over greed,” he noted.
Despite the enthusiasm surrounding the initiative, Mr. Agbana cautioned against rushing justice to satisfy public sentiment. “The pursuit of justice in complex financial crimes demands meticulous investigation, strict adherence to legal standards, and the unwavering application of due process. Swift retribution may please emotions, but only thorough and transparent legal processes can ensure lasting justice,” he said.
He emphasised that due diligence is central to ORAL’s success, noting that the initiative’s legitimacy depends not only on the assets recovered but also on the fairness, transparency, and integrity of its processes. “Justice rushed is justice risked. Ghana’s moral and institutional reset must rest on foundations that are as principled as they are resolute,” he added.
Mr. Agbana described ORAL as more than an anti-corruption mechanism, calling it a state affirmation of ethical governance and a declaration that the Republic will no longer be held hostage by kleptocratic tendencies or bureaucratic inertia. He characterised the initiative as “a clarion call for transparency, accountability, and a reimagined Ghana where public service is not a path to personal enrichment but a solemn trust held in fidelity to the people.”
The MP reaffirmed his full confidence in the Attorney-General and his deputy, stating that their professionalism and commitment to the rule of law are critical to ensuring ORAL’s success and credibility. Since assuming office, the NDC government has established the Operation Recover All Loots to investigate, prosecute, and recover state resources allegedly misappropriated by officials of the previous administration.
