Burkina Faso warns Nigeria against forceful rescue attempt after arrest of soldiers for alleged illegal entry

Burkina Faso has issued a stern warning to Nigeria following the detention of Nigerian soldiers accused of entering its territory without authorisation, stressing that its national sovereignty will not be compromised under any circumstances.

According to reports, authorities in Ouagadougou cautioned that any attempt to rescue the detained soldiers through military pressure by land or air would be met with immediate resistance.

Officials insisted that the country may be smaller in size, but it will not be intimidated.

The detained troops are alleged to have crossed into Burkina Faso unlawfully, prompting security forces to take them into custody.

The country’s leadership has since doubled down on its position, reinforcing that its territorial integrity remains non-negotiable.

Burkina Faso’s message signals rising tensions as both nations navigate the diplomatic fallout surrounding the incident.
