Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Informed of Passing of Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo (Kantanka)

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has been officially informed of the death of Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo, widely known as Kantanka, founder of Kantanka Automobile and Kristo Asafo Church.

The formal notification was made at the Manhyia Palace on Thursday, September 25, 2025. Apostle Safo passed away earlier on Thursday, September 11, 2025.

The delegation that conveyed the news to the palace was led by Nana Osei Fosu Adutwum, Kwasohene, and included former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo and her siblings, Ohemaa Ama Safowaa and Nana Ama Safo Nyankonton.

In his remarks, the Asantehene advised the family to ensure that funeral arrangements are carried out with dignity and strictly according to tradition, emphasizing the importance of respecting customary protocols to honour the legacy of the late Apostle.

“Go by tradition to avoid any misunderstandings. Whatever you plan must be in accordance with tradition,” Otumfuo said, assuring the family of his full support. He also directed that details of the funeral preparations be submitted to his office for approval in line with customary procedures.

The family has not yet announced dates for the one-week observance or the final funeral rites.
