Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has announced the death of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who was also his biological sister. She died at the age of 98 after serving as Queen Mother of the Ashanti Kingdom for eight years.

The announcement was made on August 11, 2025, during a meeting of the Asanteman Council at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi. The council meeting, which began at 10:00 a.m., was attended by members of the Asanteman Council and divisional heads, following an invitation from the Asantehene.

The Asantehemaa, revered for her wisdom and leadership, played a central role in the traditional governance and cultural preservation of the Ashanti Kingdom throughout her reign. Her passing marks the end of an era for the Ashanti royal family and the wider Asanteman community.
