Nurse allegedly assaulted at Ashaiman polyclinic after enforcing visiting hours

A nurse at the Community 22 Polyclinic in Ashaiman was allegedly assaulted by a patient’s relative after asking visitors to leave the facility at the end of visiting hours.

The incident reportedly occurred on June 2, 2026, and has sparked widespread condemnation on social media following the circulation of a video showing a confrontation inside the health facility.

According to accounts shared online, the nurse was enforcing the facility’s visiting-hour regulations when a male relative of a patient allegedly refused to comply, became aggressive and physically attacked her.

The video, which has been widely shared on social media, shows a chaotic scuffle involving several individuals in a ward area.

The incident has triggered calls from members of the public and healthcare advocates for greater protection of health workers and stricter action against assaults on medical personnel.

Nursing advocacy groups have condemned the alleged attack, stressing that healthcare workers deserve a safe and respectful working environment while carrying out their duties.

As of June 5, 2026, there has been no official confirmation from the Ghana Police Service regarding any arrest linked to the incident.

Authorities are yet to issue a formal statement on the matter.
