Speaking at a stakeholder meeting with courier operators in Accra, the Minister explained that the new charges would take effect in November 2025 when the government passes the new fees and charges schedule with the budget. He said the reduction was a special dispensation for single bikers to ease their operational burden.
The meeting brought together representatives from the Association of Licensed Courier Companies Ghana, Courier Association Ghana, Commercial National Motor Riders Union, Motorcycle Couriers Union, and Yango Delivery Service.
Mr. George also announced a moratorium on enforcement with the Police for the rest of 2025, allowing courier operators more time to regularise their operations. He directed the Postal and Courier Regulatory Commission to roll out a simplified registration system using a USSD shortcode and a mobile app to avoid frequent visits to the Commission’s offices.
Enforcement will resume on April 1, 2026, after the moratorium expires. “No one will have excuses at that time. We have shown responsiveness as a government to your concerns,” the Minister said.
Courier operators welcomed the reductions and commended the government for suspending enforcement until the end of the year.
