Accra, September 2025 – Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Ministry has unveiled a first-ever Key Performance Indicator (KPI) framework for its ambassadors and high commissioners, a move described as historic by Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
Unveiled by President John Mahama at the September Conference of Heads of Mission, the 500-page document sets measurable benchmarks in areas including trade promotion, diaspora engagement, cultural diplomacy, and consular services. A new performance delivery unit, led by former Ambassador Alexander Grant Ntrakwa, will monitor diplomats’ performance to ensure accountability and tangible outcomes.

The Ministry also facilitated the ratification of international treaties, including the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, WTO protocols on fishery subsidies, and conventions on international civil aviation and maritime safety.
Minister Ablakwa emphasised that these initiatives, alongside strategic engagements such as the June 2025 Ghana–EU Partnership Dialogue, aim to strengthen global ties, promote trade, and foster cultural and security cooperation. sbon, Dublin, Massachusetts (USA), and Singapore.
