Ambassador Rune Skinnebach has officially assumed office as the new European Union (EU) Ambassador to Ghana, after presenting his Letters of Credence to President John Dramani Mahama at the Jubilee House on Friday.
Amb. Skinnebach, a seasoned diplomat with over two decades of experience in the EU’s external relations, previously served as EU Ambassador to Malawi, Deputy Head of Division for Pan-African Affairs at the European External Action Service in Brussels, and Head of the Political, Press and Information Section at the EU Delegation to Zambia. His diplomatic career began in 1994 at the EU Delegation to Ghana.

In his remarks, the new envoy described Ghana as a key EU partner in trade, security, and political cooperation. He pledged to strengthen relations in areas such as economic growth, sustainability, youth empowerment, and education, while reaffirming the Union’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s long-term development.
President Mahama and Ambassador Skinnebach also underscored the longstanding Ghana–EU partnership, built on shared values of governance, peace, and mutual prosperity.
