The Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced a temporary disruption in water supply across the Tema Metropolis and several parts of Accra due to emergency repair works at the Kpong Water Treatment Plant.

According to a press release issued on Thursday, August 28, the interruption follows damage to the raw water transmission pipeline that feeds the Kpong facility. This has forced an immediate shutdown of the plant to allow engineers to carry out urgent repairs.

“The repair work is expected to last for three days, during which time affected residents will experience limited or no water supply,” the statement confirmed.

The water interruption will impact the entire Tema Metropolis and several Accra communities, including Ashaiman, Gbetsele, Akatamanso, Klagon, Lashibi, Baatsonaa, Spintex, parts of East Legon, and surrounding areas. GWL is urging residents in these locations to store enough water while limited supply is still available.

In the meantime, schools, hospitals, and other essential service providers in the affected areas are encouraged to contact GWL for direct assistance using the following channels:

  • Phone: 0302 2218240 / 020 738 5089 / 020 738 5090
  • WhatsApp: 0555 123 393 / 0555 155 524
  • All GWL social media platforms

GWL has assured the public that water supply will resume immediately after repairs are completed. The company apologised for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their patience and cooperation.
