Mahama leads prayers for Ghana at National Day of Prayer

President John Dramani Mahama led prayers for Ghana at the 2026 National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving held at the State House on July 1, 2026.

The event, themed “Resetting Our Values to Build the Ghana We Want,” brought together religious leaders, government officials and citizens for worship, reflection and thanksgiving.

President Mahama began the programme by leading participants in the Christian hymn “There Shall Be Showers of Blessing” before praying for God’s mercy, protection and favour for the country.

He thanked God for His protection and mercy and prayed that He would continue to grant Ghana exceptional favour.

In his address, the President urged Ghanaians to match prayer with hard work, discipline, integrity and collective responsibility in building the nation.

He said the theme of the event underscored the need to uphold values such as honesty, hard work, unity and patriotism.

The programme also featured Christian and Muslim religious leaders, reflecting Ghana’s commitment to interfaith harmony.
