Two individuals have lost their lives, and several others sustained injuries in a shooting incident near the Bawku Police station on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
The injured victims are currently receiving medical attention at a local healthcare facility.
The Bawku Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Hamza Amadu, confirmed the tragic event, stating, “One person died on the spot during the shooting incident, while the second person died on Thursday.”
He further revealed that he is awaiting a comprehensive briefing from the security agencies and refrained from providing additional comments.
The cause of the shooting remains unknown, but preliminary investigations by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) suggest a connection to the longstanding chieftaincy clash that has affected the region since 2021.
