In a tragic incident in Agornu-Kporkplorte, Akatsi South Municipality, Volta Region, 40-year-old farmer Gaylord Agbedor was shot dead by unknown gunmen.
Residents in the area allege that the act was orchestrated by herdsmen who discovered a lifeless cow on the farmer’s land.
Assemblymember Mr Kennedy Biedo provided details, stating that the suspected perpetrators were later apprehended in their hideouts by the Akatsi Police following a tip-off.
The suspects, including one identified as Kofi Hushie from Zemu Etrorkope, allegedly shot the deceased on his farm.
Mr Biedo suggested that the killing might be linked to the circumstances surrounding the death of the suspects’ cattle.
He called for calm among residents, assuring them that the matter was under police investigation.
The Akatsi Police confirmed the incident, and the suspects are currently in custody to assist with the ongoing investigations.
The deceased’s body has been deposited at the St. Paul’s Hospital Morgue in Akatsi, awaiting autopsy.
