The Deeper Life Aid (DLAiD), a non-governmental organization (NGO) associated with the Deeper Life Bible Church, has provided relief items to farmers affected by the Akosombo Dam spillage in Sokpoe to alleviate their suffering.
Sacks of maize, rice, beans, gari, clothing, and gallons of palm oil were among the essentials distributed to the victims in a gesture aimed at minimizing the impact on their livelihoods.
Madam Sarah Suobogbiree, the Programmes Officer for DLAiD, explained that the items were gathered by church members nationwide to assist the farmers in the area. She assured continuous support until the situation is resolved and appealed to corporate Ghana to extend assistance to the victims.
Madam Suobogbiree also called on the Government to mobilize funds to support the livelihood restoration agenda for the displaced persons.
Pastor Joseph Bonnah, a divisional overseer for the church, emphasized the church's commitment to corporate social responsibility, expressing the intention to support the farmers in the district. He urged other organizations to follow suit and contribute to aiding the affected farmers.
Mr. Godwin Fiatsorbu, a beneficiary who lost 40 acres of cassava farm to the flood, commended the NGO for their support during this challenging time. He called for additional support from other organizations and the Government to address the situation.
Togbe Dika V, the Tsidomhene for Sokpoe, received the items and expressed gratitude to the donors, emphasizing the ongoing need for more support.
